India’s data centre capital
Maharashtra now holds India’s largest data centre investment pipeline: ₹16.69 lakh crore, roughly USD 175 billion, across 44 mega projects, with 23,800 MW of planned IT capacity and more than 146,000 direct jobs projected. 28 projects worth ₹7.77 lakh crore are already under construction, led by Navi Mumbai and the Taloja corridor, with the Pune cluster at ₹0.84 lakh crore. Education, tech & AI is one of the mission’s five focus sectors in January 2027.

A US manufacturer scales up in Pune
Jabil expanded its Pune operations to 1.2 million sq ft, up from 500,000 a year earlier, and grew its India workforce toward 11,000. When a global manufacturer chooses Pune to scale, it signals what Central Minnesota businesses can find there too.

Washington State advances Maharashtra ties
Washington State, home to one of the world's most advanced aerospace ecosystems, is advancing aerospace and innovation partnerships with Maharashtra and Karnataka, exploring cooperation across advanced manufacturing, AI, clean energy, higher education, and workforce development. State-to-state bridges into Maharashtra are becoming the U.S. playbook, the same ground this delegation covers in January 2027.

A U.S. legislative delegation at WTC Mumbai
World Trade Center Mumbai and the All India Association of Industries hosted a seven-member U.S. legislative delegation led by Utah Senate President Pro Tempore Wayne Harper, exploring cooperation in AI, emerging technologies, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, and higher education. Bilateral trade already tops $230 billion, with both sides targeting $500 billion by 2030, and state-level partnerships named as the way to get there.

A $1.2 billion MediCity near Mumbai
The Government of Maharashtra signed an MoU with Cleveland Clinic, Brookfield Asset Management, and Arodhan Health City to build the 250-acre Navi Mumbai International MediCity. Healthcare and med-tech is one of the mission's five priority sectors.

The Governor’s pitch to Mumbai’s diplomats
Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma addressed the Annual Consuls General Meet in Mumbai, calling on the diplomatic corps to promote trade, investment, tourism, and education partnerships in what he described as India’s leading industrial state and gateway for global engagement. The same doors this delegation walks through in January 2027.

Minnesota-born ADM invests in Maharashtra farms
ADM, the agribusiness founded in Minneapolis in 1902 and headquartered in Chicago, signed an MoU with nonprofit TechnoServe to bring regenerative agriculture to 15,000 soybean farmers across four Maharashtra districts: Latur, Dharashiv, Beed, and Nanded. The $500,000, 18-month program targets soil health, farmer-producer organisations, and climate resilience. A working example of U.S.-India agricultural collaboration in the mission’s own priority sector.
